What Does Professional Window Cleaning Include?

The short answer

A professional window cleaning should cover the whole window, not just the pane: the glass on the sides you booked, plus the frames, the tracks and the screens. If a quote only mentions glass, you are getting a partial job — and in Southern Utah, a partial job does not stay looking clean for long.

That is not a technicality here. Red-rock dust does not sit politely on the glass; it collects in the tracks and coats the screens, and the first breeze after a glass-only clean puts it straight back where you can see it.

The glass, inside and out

You choose the sides. Exterior-only is common between deeper cleans, especially through the dusty months. Interior work takes longer because we are working through your rooms rather than around the outside of the house.

On the glass itself we use purified water and professional technique rather than harsh chemicals — better for the glass, and safe around kids, pets, gardens and pollinators. Done properly there are no streaks left behind and no residue for the next dust storm to stick to.

Frames, tracks and screens

This is the part that separates a real clean from a quick pass, and it is where we spend time that some companies skip.

Frames

Clean glass sitting in a dirty frame still reads as a dirty window from across the room. Frames hold dust along the bottom edge and around the seals, and wiping them is the difference between "the windows are clean" and "the window looks new."

Tracks

Sliding windows and patio doors collect fine grit in the track until they get stiff and start grinding. Clearing the tracks is partly about looks and largely about the window continuing to work. Homes near open desert — Hurricane and the Sand Hollow side especially — silt up faster than the rest of the county.

Screens

A dusty screen will re-coat a clean pane almost immediately, which is why cleaning the glass and leaving the screens is close to pointless. We take them down, clean them, and put them back.

Hard-water treatment: related, but its own job

Washing removes dust, grime and fingerprints. It does not remove the mineral deposits that sprinkler overspray and hard culinary water leave behind — those need a treatment with different products and more time, which is why it is quoted as its own line rather than assumed.

We will look at your glass and tell you honestly whether treatment will help. Fresh spotting usually clears well. Spotting that has sat for years can etch the surface of the glass itself, and etched glass cannot be brought all the way back. You can usually tell which one you have yourself before you even call.

What the visit actually looks like

1. A free estimate. We price it clearly, and you do not need to be home for us to look at the outside.
2. We arrive in the window we promised. Uniformed, background-checked crew, shoe covers on before anyone steps inside.
3. The clean. Glass, frames, tracks, sills and screens — whichever of those your quote lists — done to the same standard inside and out.
4. A walk-through. We go over the work with you before we leave. Spot something in the next 48 hours and we come back and fix it free.

For interior work we need access, and that is about it. No furniture to move, no blinds to take down. If something heavy or fragile sits in front of the glass, tell us when you book rather than leaving us to find it.

What is not part of a standard clean

Being straight about the edges of the service is easier than surprising you on the day:

• Hard-water treatment is quoted separately, because it is real additional work rather than a stronger wipe.
• Etched glass is damage to the glass itself rather than a layer on it, so it is a replacement conversation rather than a cleaning one. We will tell you if that is what you are looking at.
• Damaged screens and broken seals are a repair, not a cleaning. We will point them out if we spot them.
• Window film is a separate service — window tinting — though plenty of homeowners end up booking both once they see how much sun a west-facing room takes.

Do I need to move furniture or take down blinds?
